Badab-e Surt location
The beautiful Badab-e Surt, also known as colorful springs, attract many tourists and we see many pictures of them.
Badab-e Surt springs located in Mazandaran province, south of Sari city, Chahardangeh district, Posht Kuh, Surat village, between the villages of Everest and Malkhast. From the north, these springs reach highlands and coniferous forests, and from south ends to downstream valleys, and from the east in the vicinity of shrubs. The west also surrounded by the village of Everest.
Badab means soda water and Surt means the intensity of the effect. Surt springs recorded as the second national natural heritage of Iran in year 2009. In year 2009, Damavand Mountain, Badab-e Surt Springs and Abarkuh cypress registered as three natural monuments by the Cultural Heritage Organization. Badab-e Surt springs after Turkey’s Pamo Calais are the second largest saltwater springs in the world. One of the important programs for Badab-e Surt is its global registration as an incredible natural piece. This place is suppose to become a global Geo park and will be known as sister of Turkish Pamukale springs.

Badab-e Surt recorded as the second national natural place of Iran in 2009.
Wherever in the world you are and whatever in the nature interests you, travel to Badab-e surt, to visit glorious scenery of springs and mountains. For geology enthusiasts, a range of stepped terrace formations, and curious rock formations are charming.
The area of the landscape consists of golden, orange, and red stepped terraces of sedimentary rock, formed by deposits of minerals carried from nearby natural hot springs produces water rich in salts (sedimentary waters) and sulfur. They have medicinal properties. The water in Badab-e Surt have risen from the top of the mountain to the bottom for thousands of year, creating tiny small ponds in orange, yellow, and red in different sizes.
Badab-e Surt has a reflection of the sky and includes several springs with very different waters in terms of color, smell, taste and volume of water. Two main important springs are:
First spring
The spring has very salty water with a depth of about 15 meters in diameter, which is mostly used for swimming in the summer and is useful for the treatment of back and foot pain, skin diseases, Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and especially migraine headache. In addition, the spring does not freeze in winter due to its salty water.

Second spring
There is a slight amount of iron deposits around this spring. Over the years, on a mountainous slope, the flow of sedimentary and mineral springs has led to the emergence of hundreds of floors and dozens of stunning pond stacks of orange, yellow, and red in different sizes. The flow of sedimentary and mineral waters of these springs over the years has produced hundreds of floors and dozens of beautiful pools of orange, yellow and red in various sizes on its downhill slope. These floors and ponds are, in fact, the main attraction and unique feature of the Surat springs. Climate in Badab-e Surt
