Nomad of Iran

Nomad of Iran is diverse. In fact, The non-settled nomadic way of life is another aspect of Iranian culture. Nomadic lifestyle is the oldest way of life of human beings that still exists in Iran. People who stick to their ancestor’s culture and customs and live really different than today’s life.

The characteristic of Iran nomad

Nomad are the people who migrate from one place to another with their tribe, family, cattle and all their belongings. In fact, they move from their winter resort locations which are Qeshlaq to summer grazing lands or Yeilaq and move back to their winter resort locations again when it gets cold. Nomadic life has two characteristics: Migration as a way of life and changing of location. Nomad have annual and seasonal migration. Most of nomadic tribes migrate in fall and spring.

The history of Iran nomad

From 6th to 8th centuries, Iran shifted to live nomadic life because of the economic growth and cattle breeding. Cattle breeding are a basis of economic life for them. There are various theories concerning the causes of such a way of life like population raise, expansion of agriculture, economic structure of a given society, social and political situations and ecological factors. Nomad of Iran have had key roles in war with enemies and defending the country in the history of Iran.

They live in the heart of nature. Nomad of Iran are the sweetheart of the lands such as mountains, plains and riverbanks. In fact, these lands are their country yard or homeland. If you come to Iran Mountains during a summer tour in Iran, you will have the opportunity to see the nomad on the base of the mountains. As the cold days come, the nomad start packing up their home to move to warm areas.

Nomad of Iran products and handicrafts

Nomad of Iran use the basic material available for them; They use dairy products of their animals for different productions, trades and their own use, use their sheep’s and goat’s wool, make bread, weave Persian and beautiful carpets, rugs and kilims(durries), weave their sheep’s wool to make tents (the best Material for their tents). Making these tents protect them from natural elements such as sunrise, wind and rain.

Nomad Families have their especial job description. A husband, a wife and a child in a family are helping the family existence. Children have their own job descriptions base on their gender . They learn and practice serious life from childhood.

Nomad women and girls are famous for their handicrafts. They cover the walls and roofs of their tents by goat wool in cool days of winter. They solely do the making of these rugs, and they know designs (each tells a tale of an era) by heart.

The diet of the nomad of Iran usually consists of dairy products and local vegetable and rice. Nomad consume very little meat, and meat is usually considered a food of special occasions such as wedding celebration.

Nomad of Iran customs and beliefs

The wedding celebration is customs of the nomad of Iran. These customs are very colorful and have beautiful design. They use music in their wedding celebration and their music is usually inspired by nature.

There are several Nomad in Iran from different ethnic such as Turks, Turkmen, Kurds, Lurs, Baluchis, Arabs and Persians. The nomad of Iran each speak a different language and have different biological make-ups and their own culture. Qashqai, Bakhtiari, Shahsevan are amongst the most famous Nomad of Iran.
